Clarence Seedorf

Clarence Seedorf was born in the Dutch-speaking South American country of Suriname in 1976 and has established himself as one of the most dependable midfielders in European football in a glittering career chock-full of honours.

Seedorf started out in Holland, coming through the ranks of the famed Ajax academy and his debut for the club in 1992 made him, at the time, the youngest player in the club's history.

He soon became used to winning, helping Ajax to the Eredivisie title in 1994 and again in 1995 when he also won his first Champions League - he is the only player ever to have won Europe's top club competition with three different teams.

A brief spell in Italy with Sampdoria would follow that double success thanks to a €5m transfer, but he lasted just the one season with the Blucerchiati before being signed by Real Madrid for an €8m fee where he would again taste Champions League glory in 1998.

Three seasons later came an even bigger move, this time to the city of Milan with Inter, who spent €24.5 on a player then seen as one of the most influential in Europe.

Two years with Inter was enough and he secured a move across the city and joined Milan in 2002, where his third Champions League title would come just a year later despite him missing a penalty in the shootout against Juventus in the final.

Seedorf would also go on to win a Serie A title in 2003/4, making it three league titles in three different countries. However, problems at Milan meant Seedorf didn't win anything else until 2007, when the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup would all fall into his hands, leaving Seedorf closing in on 20 team honours in a hugely successful career that shows no signs of stopping yet.

With Milan set to face Manchester United in the Champions League last 16, some will be betting that Seedorf will add to his trophy collection later this season.

Football betting experts also consider Milan among the favourites to take the Serie A title this season, so he shouldn't have to wait too long for more silverware.

In his time at the San Siro, Seedorf has been one of the mainstays of the midfield alongside Andrea Pirlo and Rino Gattuso, and he shone as a defensive foil to Kaka before the Brazilian made the move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2009. All in all, he is a true great.
