It does seem a bit strange but it's been quite some time since AC Milan have been favourites in the Milan derby, but they do seem to be for the upcoming one.

The red & black team have had a very good season so far. Newly appointed manager Vincenzo Montella had a rough start but after losing twice in a row with Napoli and Udinese the Rossoneri have only lost points in two of their last nine games. They have defeated current champions Juventus and are on track to grabbing one Champions League spot.

What's even more interesting that Milan's team is very young and while this lack of experience might prove tricky in Serie A, they have managed to handle it successfully, despite what the Serie A betting odds showed at the start of the season.

On the other side, Inter's defence performance is far from spectacular, maybe the new coach Stefano Pioli may be able to improve on that. However, if it will act as it did during the previous games, Milan's attacking players may find it easy to break. Carlos Bacca hasn't scored in over a month but it doesn't take much of a chance for him to do so.

Rumours are circling that Gianluca Lapaula may be favoured over the Colombian. The former scored a spectacular winner against Palermo while Bacca will only be back from his International call-up on Thursday and his fatigue might be taken into account when making the choice.

As for Inter, Mauro Icardi has proven decisive several times so far and continues to be the star player along with goalkeeper Samir Handanovic. The Argentinian striker is leading the Serie A goalscorers rankings with 10 goals. On top of that he also rovided 3 assists.

Icardi's job might be made easier by the fact that Milan's Alessio Romagnoli is likely to miss the match due to an injury.

As for stats, Inter's Pioli leads Montella nine to five with only one draw.

To sum things up, it will certainly be an interesting encounter and if history is of any help, these games are usually won by the underdogs.
