Milan made hard work of their 2-1 win in Bologna, as Zlatan Ibrahimovicís penalty was parried into the path of Ante Rebic and Franck Kessie converted, but both goalkeepers were kept busy.
The Rossoneri were Winter Champions, but lost their last two games, including the Coppa Italia quarter-final with Inter midweek. Hakan Calhanoglu was still unavailable, despite recovering from COVID, with Simon Kjaer, Brahim Diaz and Matteo Gabbia injured, so Fikayo Tomori got his first start since arriving on loan from Chelsea, with Rafael Leao in a new central supporting role. Bologna missed Gary Medel and Ibrahima Mbaye.
