Milan broke Sassuolo with the fastest goal in Serie A history from Rafael Leao, then Alexis Saelemaekers made sure despite a late Domenico Berardi free kick.

The Rossoneri saw their lead at the top of the table whittled down to just one point after back-to-back 2-2 draws with Parma and Genoa. The injury crisis intensified, with Ante Rebic joining Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Simon Kjaer, Ismael Bennacer and Matteo Gabbia on the treatment table, so Rafael Leao was reworked as a centre-forward. Manuel Locatelli was suspended against his former club and Francesco Caputo still not at 100 per cent, but Gregoire Defrel returned.
