Christian Abbiati would like to end his career at Milan after he signed a new contract with the club last week.
The goalkeeper, born in July 1977, is now tied to the outfit until 2013 after more than a decade of service at San Siro.
“I hope to finish my career at Milan,” he admitted. “As soon as an extension was offered to me I signed. There were no problems at all.”
Abbiati, from Milan, started his career at Monza before making his Serie A debut for the Rossoneri in 1998-99.
Apart from loan spells at Juventus, Torino and Atletico Madrid in recent years, he’s been at the club ever since.
However, Abbiati has never really been an untouchable in the first team and will face competition from new signing Marco Amelia this season.
“I’m calm about the situation,” continued the former Italian international. “I have always fought for a shirt here, which is only right, and I’ll do that for the next three years…”
