Ronaldinho is very happy at AC Milan

Ronaldinho won’t be leaving Milan any time in the near future, as he is very happy at San Siro, according to his brother who also acts as his agent.

The 30-year-old’s future has been the subject of much debate in recent weeks with Flamengo and LA Galaxy said to be interested in his signature.

Ronaldinho’s contract expires next summer and the fact he has yet to sign an extension only fuels speculation about his time at Milan.

However, his brother Roberto de Assis has given the clearest hint yet that Ronaldinho is keen to stay in the red and black of Milan.

Interviewed on Sky Italia, de Assis said: “Ronaldinho is happy in Milan. He is a Milan player and he will stay a Milan player. I ask the fans to stay calm.”

When asked if he had discussed a contract renewal with Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani, he replied: “We have been doing it for six months.

“There is still a year to work it out. We will sort this thing out slowly, without hurry,” de Assis concluded.

This morning’s La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Ronaldinho would like to stay at San Siro until 2014, partly because of the opportunity Milan would give him to play his way back into the national team.

Ronaldinho’s No 1 objective is to play at the 2014 World Cup, which will be held in Brazil.

However, the former World Player of the Year will have to take a dramatic pay cut if he is to stay with the Rossoneri.

He currently earns €8m after tax and Milan’s new austerity budget means they no longer offer more than half that figure.
