Ronaldinho: AC Milan for life'

Ronaldinho intends to stay at Milan for the rest of his career, according to his brother who also acts as his agent.

The 30-year-old's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks.

Flamengo President Patricia Amorim even claimed that Ronaldinho had told her that he wanted to play in Rio de Janeiro.

However, his brother Roberto de Assis insists that Ronaldinho is settled in Italy and would like to follow Paolo Maldini's example.

Interviewed in this morning's Il Corriere dello Sport, de Assis said: “He'll finish his career in red and black. Berlusconi's words gave us enormous pleasure. There is always great respect between the President and us.

“The link that has been created with Milan is great. The longer it goes on the better it will be for all of us. Our wish is the same as Berlusconi's.

“Sooner or later I'll see Galliani, hopefully for lunch or dinner. The relationship is also great with him, so we'll finish discussing the contract.

“I don't expect any particular problems, but, in any case, there isn't a hurry to sign.”

De Assis then gave his reaction to claims that the LA Galaxy have offered to exchange Landon Donovan for Ronaldinho.

“My brother is a Milan player, to whom he is tied with a contract for another year. Any clubs who are interested must first talk with the club not with us.”

Meanwhile, Ronaldinho has been given customised training sessions and has yet to work with his Milan team-mates after returning to Italy out of shape.

The Brazilian star isn't allowed to take part in training games and other group work, such as exercises with the ball until he is fit enough to do so.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that he has spent the first couple of days at Milanello training in the gym.

Milan's new boss Max Allegri told reporters at his official unveiling on Tuesday that Ronaldinho is a phenomenal player, but these days phenomenal players must also run.
