Allegri: 'AC Milan can do well'

Milan’s new boss Massimiliano Allegri believes his squad still has a lot to give despite its high average age.

The Rossoneri have been criticised for keeping faith in their veteran players.

Around 3,000 supporters held a protest at training yesterday, bemoaning Milan’s lack of ambition in the transfer market.

“At the moment this squad gives ample guarantees,” Allegri said. “This team still has a lot to give.

“We have all the characteristics and the qualities to do well. The conviction is fundamental to do things.”

Allegri was then asked about his plans for Ronaldinho.

“He has many qualities and must make the difference. Sure, he has to be supported by the team, just as he must put himself at the service of the group.”

When asked if Ronaldinho should take a leaf out of Samuel Eto’o’s book and track back, Allegri said: “They have different characteristics.

“Eto’o didn’t change position, he sacrificed himself for the team. If I’m not mistaken he won the treble at Barcelona and the treble at Inter: you never win titles by chance,” he concluded.
