Inter Have Entered The Race To Sign AC Milan Target Milan Badelj

It looks like the battle on the field between two the world's biggest football rivals is going to be in the transfer window along with the pitch. Both teams are interested in signing Badelj who currently plays for Fiorentina. AC Milan has been tracking the player closely and even tried to purchase him during the summer but was unsuccessful.
AC Milan's manager Vincenzo Montella is a huge fan of the Croatian midfield player who he used to manage during his time as manager of Fiorentina. Due to the current manager's relationship with the player, they feel it will give them the edge over other teams interested in signing him who is apparently available at around €15 million. They are desperate to find a new player to replace Ricardo Montolivo who is currently out injured for six months with a cruciate ligament tear which he picked up on international duty.
AC Milan's biggest rivals though are also interested in the Croatian International. Stefano Pioli the new manager of Inter Milan has requested that the board buy the player during the January transfer market. The manager believes that the midfielder could be the solution he is looking for to help the team progress.
Inter have had a mixed season so far and the fans will be disappointed that they currently sit in 9th place having won five, drawn two and lost five. They need to find consistency on the pitch if they are going to reach the champions league qualification next season and singing the Badelj could be the answer to that. It remains to be seen if Fiorentina would be prepared to sell to Inter as they currently sit one place above them in 8th and selling their star player will not help them finish above Inter and possibly qualify for European competition.
Piero Ausilio the Inter Milan director has stated that he has made contact with Fiorentina along with the player's manager in the hope to persuade him to join them. AC Milan made an offer for the player of €9 million during the summer transfer window but that was rejected. They are expected to increase this offer during to January window and it could end up in a bidding war between the two clubs.
The two Italian giants are not the only team that is tracking Badelj. Chelsea's new Italian boss Antonio Conte is a huge fan of the midfield player and have asked to be kept in form of any developments. Conte was at the match between Torino Vs Fiorentina which ended in a 2-1 result against the home team.
Chelsea is flying high currently in the Premier League and sit second on 25 points. They are only one point from current leaders Liverpool and are determined to qualify this season for the Champions League after having a disastrous season last campaign. If the Blues do sign Badelj they will need to sell one of their midfielders to find space to add the player to their squad. Both John Obi Mikel and Cesc Fabregas are the likely candidates to be sold as they have both been struggling to get match time.
Florentina will not want to let their star man leave, especially during the middle of the season. However, the player enters the final year of his contract in the summer which will greatly devalue the midfielder’s value. If they get a big offer during January, it will be hard for them to turn it down. It does seem a bit strange but it's been quite some time since AC Milan have been favourites in the Milan derby, but they do seem to be for the upcoming one.
The red & black team have had a very good season so far. Newly appointed manager Vincenzo Montella had a rough start but after losing twice in a row with Napoli and Udinese the Rossoneri have only lost points in two of their last nine games. They have defeated current champions Juventus and are on track to grabbing one Champions League spot.
What's even more interesting that Milan's team is very young and while this lack of experience might prove tricky in Serie A, they have managed to handle it successfully, despite what the Serie A betting odds showed at the start of the season.
On the other side, Inter's defence performance is far from spectacular, maybe the new coach Stefano Pioli may be able to improve on that. However, if it will act as it did during the previous games, Milan's attacking players may find it easy to break. Carlos Bacca hasn't scored in over a month but it doesn't take much of a chance for him to do so.
Rumours are circling that Gianluca Lapaula may be favoured over the Colombian. The former scored a spectacular winner against Palermo while Bacca will only be back from his International call-up on Thursday and his fatigue might be taken into account when making the choice.
As for Inter, Mauro Icardi has proven decisive several times so far and continues to be the star player along with goalkeeper Samir Handanovic. The Argentinian striker is leading the Serie A goalscorers rankings with 10 goals. On top of that he also rovided 3 assists.
Icardi's job might be made easier by the fact that Milan's Alessio Romagnoli is likely to miss the match due to an injury.
As for stats, Inter's Pioli leads Montella nine to five with only one draw.
To sum things up, it will certainly be an interesting encounter and if history is of any help, these games are usually won by the underdogs.
